Struggling with exam specifications? Need fresh lesson ideas? Want someone outside your day-to-day environment to bounce ideas around with?
I now offer one-to-one coaching and mentoring sessions for English teachers / tutors via Zoom. These sessions are designed to support teachers or tutors at any stage of their career, whether you’re new to the profession, transitioning to a new specification, or looking to refine your practice.
Each session is tailored to your specific needs and challenges. My greatest expertise lies within delivering the AQA GCSE English Language and Literature courses, and this is what the majority of my clients choose to focus on. However, we might focus on lesson planning strategies, assessment techniques, marking and feedback approaches, or exam preparation methods. I draw upon my extensive experience working with schools across the country to provide practical, classroom-ready solutions that you can implement immediately.

The sessions are interactive and collaborative – this isn’t about me lecturing you, but rather working together to solve the challenges you’re facing in your classroom.
Here is one testimonial from a tutor I’ve worked with on numerous occasions: ‘I am very pleased to write a reference for Andrew Bruff, whose support and expertise have been of immense value to me. Having taught English and English Literature for many years, mainly as Head of English in a London school, I moved into Headmastering for two decades. I found myself out of touch with the latest developments in GCSE English Language and Literature when I moved into tutoring afterwards. It was through Andrew’s online resources that I first encountered his work, and his clear, precise, and engaging explanations were exactly what I needed to update my knowledge and approach.
Andrew has a remarkable ability to make complex syllabus requirements and examiner expectations accessible. He is unfailingly up-to-date with the latest thinking and trends in assessment, and his experience as an online English coach – with literally millions of views working closely with pupils and receiving regular feedback—means that he has an acute sense of what engages people and helps them succeed. What impressed me particularly was his sensitivity: he understood that I was returning to this material after some years, and his encouragement and clarity gave me the confidence to resume tutoring in GCSE English with assurance.
Andrew combines professional rigour with an approachable and relaxed manner. He is generous with his time, responsive to requests for further help, and has the gift of putting teachers at ease while at the same time equipping them with exactly the knowledge and techniques they need. I can recommend him most warmly for any work in training and supporting teachers. His courses and tutorials will, I am sure, be of real benefit to anyone who wishes to refresh or develop their skills in teaching English.’
